Invading the Binghamton Airwaves

Fox or CBS, weather or news, weekends or weeknights... If you're flipping through local channels in Binghamton, there's a good chance you'll stumble on a recent NSRT success story. Broadcast Journalism students Kate Thornton and Lindsay Nielsen won't technically graduate for another month, but they've both already landed jobs in the business -- at competing stations in Binghamton!

Kate is the weekend meteorologist at FOX 40 WICZ. She studied the science of meteorology at UAlbany, then enrolled at the New School for on-camera instruction. Now she's forecasting weather in the Southern Tier. A few stations further up the dial, Lindsay just accepted a job with WBNG, Binghamton's CBS affiliate. Lindsay began her internship at WBNG just a few weeks ago. From day one, she was writing and editing video for the news. And before the end of her internship, she was offered a paid position.

This spring, they sat next to each other in class. Now they're separated by just a couple clicks on the remote control! Next time you're in Binghamton, be sure to check them out.
