Since we are between classes right now, I thought I would pass along some interesting tidbits from various parts of the industry that I've come across:
Tech Talk Listen up all you Gmail-ers! Google just announced the introduction of internet phone calls using its gmail system. It's still going to be tough to put a dent in Skype's share of the market but I guess we will just have to wait and see.
AT&T's 3G network is about to get even more bogged down. Netfilx (which has over 15 million subscribers) is about to expand its video streaming service. It started with a free app on the iPad but will now be extending the app to users of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
3D-TV Programming is on the rise (or so it would seem). New 3D Live Trucks have been coming onto the market over the summer (with a price tag of around $10 million each) and it appears that they are already in high demand. One truck is dedicated to ESPN's new 3D channel and will cover roughly 60 events in the next year. Other trucks are booked solid covering various sports, concerts, and entertainment work.
On The Tube...Or Not
After eight seasons on SNL Will Forte is calling it quits. As MacGruber spreads his wings to fly I wonder...how far will he get? I mean he probably had 12 seconds, a paperclip, a tube sock and a wedge of lemon to make those wings!
